When you’re out on the water, your leash is your lifeline so it needs to be reliable, comfortable and completely hassle free. The NRS Coil SUP Leash is designed specifically for flat water paddlers who want freedom of movement without the drag or tangles of a traditional leash.
Whether you’re cruising lakes, exploring canals or heading out for a fitness paddle, this leash keeps things simple, safe and streamlined.
Tangle-Free Design That Works With You
The standout feature of this leash is its tightly coiled polyurethane cord, which stays neatly out of the water.
At just 51 cm when relaxed, it sits compact and unobtrusive but when you fall in, it smoothly extends up to 350 cm, giving you full range of motion without restriction.
Why that matters:
- No dragging leash slowing you down
- Reduced snag risk on your board or feet
- Cleaner, more enjoyable paddling experience
It’s the ideal setup for paddlers who value efficiency and hate unnecessary clutter underfoot.
Built for Smooth, Stress-Free Performance
Nothing ruins a paddle faster than a tangled leash. That’s why NRS has added dual in-line swivels, allowing the leash to rotate freely as you move.
- Prevents twisting during step-back turns or movement
- Keeps the coil functioning properly at all times
- Reduces wear and tear over time
The result? A leash that works quietly in the background so you can focus on your paddle.
Comfort You’ll Appreciate on Longer Sessions
The 5 cm padded calf strap is designed for all day wear, making it perfect for longer paddles, touring sessions, or SUP fitness.
- Soft padding prevents rubbing and irritation
- Secure hook-and-loop closure keeps it firmly in place
- Calf placement keeps the leash out of your stance area
This positioning is especially popular with flat water paddlers, as it avoids interference when stepping back or moving around the board.
Quick & Easy Attachment
The included lanyard makes connecting your leash to your board quick and hassle-free, whether you’re using a rigid or inflatable SUP.
Once attached, you’ve got a strong, dependable connection that ensures your board never drifts out of reach, an essential safety feature for every paddler.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a coiled SUP leash and why is it better for flat water?
A coiled SUP leash is designed to stay compact on your board rather than dragging in the water. For flatwater paddling, this means less resistance, no tangling and a smoother glide, making your sessions more efficient and enjoyable.
Is a coiled SUP leash safe to use?
Absolutely in flat water conditions, a coiled leash is safe and highly recommended. It keeps your paddle board close if you fall in. However, for river paddling or fast-moving water, you should use a quick-release leash for added safety.
Is this leash safe for river paddling?
We would not recommend using this leash in fast moving water and a quick release version leash is the much safer and better option. In very slow moving water it can be used but we would recommend pairing it with a quick release safety belt. This is how we wear ours a lot of the time Never under estimate river currents even though it can look calm it can still have strong under water currents.
Should I wear my SUP leash on my ankle or calf?
