Leave Your Phone Behind. Take Your Music Anywhere.
This is where a waterproof speaker gets really interesting.
The Speaqua Barnacle Pro 2.0 Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker isn’t simply designed to survive adventures around water. It’s designed to give you the freedom to take your music with you even when you’d rather leave your phone safely behind.
Alongside Bluetooth connectivity, the Barnacle Pro 2.0 has 8GB of built-in memory capable of storing up to 2,000 MP3 songs directly on the speaker.
For paddleboarding, we think that’s brilliant.
Load your music before you leave, put your phone somewhere safe and take just the speaker onto the water. No Bluetooth connection to lose. No expensive smartphone sitting unnecessarily on the deck of your board. Just your music and the paddle ahead.
And with IP68 waterproofing, a floating design, 8-hour battery life and an ingenious 4-in-1 mounting system, this feels like a speaker that’s genuinely been designed for adventure rather than simply made waterproof.
This is probably our favourite feature of the Barnacle Pro 2.0.
Most Bluetooth speakers still depend on another device to provide the music. Move too far away from your phone or lose the Bluetooth connection and the music stops.
Speaqua approached things differently.
The Speaqua Barnacle Pro 2.0 has 8GB of internal storage, allowing you to load up to 2,000 MP3-compatible songs directly onto the speaker.
Speaqua calls the combination of its IP68 waterproofing and internal music storage Water Play Technology.
The clever part is that music stored locally doesn’t rely on maintaining a Bluetooth connection to your phone. That means you can continue listening whether you’re in or out of the water, while your phone can stay somewhere considerably safer.
For paddleboarding, kayaking and other watersports, that makes a huge amount of sense.
A waterproof speaker is useful around water.
A waterproof speaker that floats is even better.
The Speaqua Barnacle Pro 2.0 carries an IP68 waterproof rating and is also shockproof, dust proof and sand proof, giving it the protection needed for considerably more adventurous environments than your average portable speaker.
And if it does end up in the water, Speaqua has designed the Barnacle Pro 2.0 to float.
That’s a feature we particularly appreciate as paddleboarders. Waterproofing isn’t much consolation if your speaker disappears to the bottom of a lake.
Another feature that separates the Barnacle Pro 2.0 from a conventional portable Bluetooth speaker is Speaqua’s 4-in-1 mounting system.
You’ve got four different ways to take it with you:
The industrial-strength suction cup is designed to attach to a clean, smooth surface and can be removed when you don’t need it.
Speaqua specifically recommends this option for paddleboards, as well as windshields and shower tiles.
The universal 1/4-inch thread provides compatibility with action-camera style mounting equipment, opening up plenty of possibilities for attaching the speaker to your adventure setup.
A GoPro mount adapter is included in the package and works with existing compatible GoPro mounts – particularly useful for sports, bike and board mounting applications.
Heading away from the water?
Clip the Barnacle Pro 2.0 onto a backpack, tent or belt loop and take it with you.
It’s a genuinely versatile mounting system rather than a speaker that simply has a loop attached to it.
This is where we think the Barnacle Pro 2.0 really comes into its own.
Attach the suction mount to a suitable smooth, clean area of your paddleboard, load your music onto the speaker and your phone doesn’t necessarily need to come along for the ride.
And if the speaker does accidentally end up overboard? It floats!
There’s something very appealing about that combination.
You can enjoy music without wearing earbuds, keep your ears free to communicate with other paddlers and remain more aware of what’s happening around you.
We’d always encourage using speakers considerately on the water, particularly around wildlife, other paddlers and people enjoying the peace and quiet but for the right place and the right paddle, it’s a fantastic way to add a soundtrack to the adventure.
With up to 8 hours of battery life, the Barnacle Pro 2.0 has enough staying power for longer days outdoors.
Morning paddle?
Got you Covered.
Afternoon at the beach?
Still going.
Evening back at the campsite?
There’s a good chance the soundtrack hasn’t finished yet.
And because the speaker itself can store your music, you aren’t necessarily draining your phone battery by streaming over Bluetooth all day either.
When you do have your phone connected, the Barnacle Pro 2.0’s built-in microphone and speakerphone gives you another useful option.
You can take compatible calls through the speaker rather than having to hold your phone, particularly handy when your hands are wet or your phone is safely tucked away.
Want to go bigger?
Dual-speaker pairing allows you to synchronise two Barnacle Pro speakers for a richer listening experience.
One Barnacle Pro 2.0 is ideal when portability is the priority. Pairing two gives you another option when you’re back at camp, on the beach or enjoying an adventure with friends.
Considering everything packed inside, the Barnacle Pro 2.0 remains remarkably compact.
At just 2.75 x 2.75 x 3.3 inches, it takes up very little room in your adventure kit.
That’s important to us.
When we’re paddleboarding, we already have a board, paddle, buoyancy aid, dry bag, water, clothing and safety equipment to think about. We don’t want a speaker becoming another cumbersome piece of kit.
The Barnacle Pro is small enough to come along without taking over.
There are hundreds of portable Bluetooth speakers available.
We weren’t looking for another one.
We wanted to find something that actually made sense for the way our customers and we spend time outdoors.
And that’s why the Speaqua Barnacle Pro 2.0 stood out.
It’s the combination that does it.
IP68 waterproof. Floats. Stores up to 2,000 songs. Four mounting options. Eight-hour battery. Speakerphone. Dual-speaker pairing.
Individually, they’re useful features.
Together, they create a waterproof speaker that feels genuinely designed around being outdoors and on the water.
For us, the ability to load music directly onto the speaker is the real star. Being able to leave your phone somewhere safe while still taking your music paddleboarding is such a simple idea that we’re surprised more outdoor speakers don’t offer it.
It’s clever, compact and genuinely different.
